A number of years ago a group of Americans and Canadians got together to help the handicapped schools in the Puerto Vallarta area. Fr. Jack found help from the St. Madelene Sophia Center and the Down-Syndrome Center in San Diego. He found that Down-Syndrome children could learn from interactive computer programs.
Since that time, computer rooms have been installed in various handicapped schools, along with therapy pools, new restrooms and showers. We are currently supporting a kindergarten and grade school in the area surrounding our church. We are supplying computers, books, school supplies, food and clothing to a very impoverished neighborhood.
We realize that if a child can learn English and computer skills, they can go from poverty to middle class by obtaining employment at the numerous resorts in the area. This has become a new outreach program for Iglesia Cristo Del Mar.
We have created a California non-profit Religious Corporation, "Mexico Ministries & Mission" as a vehicle to receive tax-deductible donations to further our efforts.
